Parent Caused Lockdown at Highland Lakes Elementary
A school staffer had called the sheriff's office saying the parent was inside the school at the front counter and was speaking loudly. The parent was not supposed to be on school grounds because of an injunction.

A lockdown at Palm Harbor's Highland Lakes Elementary School on Wednesday afternoon was caused by a parent who was not supposed to be on school property, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
The school's principal put students and staff on a "passive" lockdown around 1 p.m. May 29. Sheriff's office spokeswoman Cristen Rensel said the parent was not supposed to be on school grounds because of an injunction.Â

Pinellas County Schools spokeswoman Melanie Marquez Parra said Highland Lakes Elementary was put on lockdown for about 20 minutes. She described the response as a precautionary action.
"There isn't something that is actually a safety threat to students, but there is something happening that is a concern," said Marquez Parra.
