Palm Harbor's Steve's Produce Expands to Dunedin

Steve's Produce in Palm Harbor recently branched out and opened up Steve's Produce and Market in Dunedin.

Trias "Steve" Paschopoulos, owner of the family-operated Steve's Produce in Palm Harbor, has come a long way since 1984, when he first arrived in the area from Toronto with $300 and had to borrow $200 to start his first produce stand.

Paschopoulos' produce stand is a longstanding fixture along Alt. 19 and now his son, Steve Jr., recently branched out and opened up Steve's Produce and Market at 2058 Bayshore Boulevard in Dunedin.

The mostly indoor, family-run produce store carries an array of fruits and vegetables from Florida, California, South America and Mexico. The in-season tomatoes are from Ruskin and the green peppers are also grown in Florida. Plant City strawberries are in season until April, said Steve Paschopoulos Jr., 43, who lives in Dunedin and owns and operates the new location.

He shared tips on picking out the best strawberries: the deeper the red the sweeter the bite. He also recommended paying attention to the weather when buying strawberries. Rainy weather cause the berries to become soft and mushy, so he suggests waiting a few days after a big rain to buy them.

His store also carries a variety of deli and market items, including Boar's Head meat, breads, frozen seafood, oils, peppers, pasta sauces, olives, cheeses and milk.
