Trump releases administration from Ethics Pledge
President Trump revokes "Ethics Commitments by Executive Branch Appointees" Wednesday, hours before his term ends.

President Trump revoked the "Ethics Commitments by Executive Branch Appointees." The ethics pledge was outlined in one of Trump’s first executive orders, signed on Jan. 28, 2017, as part of his campaign pledge to “Drain the Swamp” just eight days after he was sworn in as president — as part of his broader campaign pledge to "Drain the Swamp." It bars political appointees from any lobbying related to their agency for five years and also imposed a lifetime ban on lobbying on behalf of a foreign government. Every Trump appointee was required to sign a pledge agreeing to the rules. Trump’s order authorized the attorney general to investigate any breaches of the ethics pledge and to pursue civil suits if necessary.
Trump signed the one-page revocation of the order on Tuesday, and it was released by the White House shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday, hours before his term ends. It released all employees of there previous commitments to "Drain the Swamp" and allowed them to return to the Swamp.
