PINELLAS COUNTY, FL -- Pinellas County expects to finish replacing the Pinellas Trail pedestrian bridges over Alternate U.S. 19 and Orange Street in Palm Harbor today.
Alternate U.S. 19 between Curlew Road and Tampa Road had been closed each night since Sunday to accommodate the construction. Additionally, the trail crossing has been closed to pedestrian traffic during construction.
The bridges were closed in September 2017 due to excessive rusting of the steel trusses. New steel trusses with improved coatings have been fabricated off-site.

In a revised construction schedule announced last month, the county’s contractor began mobilizing equipment on the site last Friday, then removed the old trusses and lifted the new trusses into place this week.
Concrete decks will be poured in early January, and the work is scheduled for completion in mid-February.
