Why is the press so critical of Politicians?

Gaffes from President Obama:
- "R-S-P-E-C-T." – Misspelling of Aretha Franklin's famous song "Respect", New York, NY (March 6, 2014)
- "Even though most people agree... I'm presenting a fair deal, the fact that they don't take it means that I should somehow do a Jedi mind-meld with these folks and convince them to do what’s right." --mixing up Star Wars and Star Trek references while discussing working with Republicans in Congress (March 1, 2013)
- "And finally, Bos(ton), I just want to say thank you for Youkilis." –joking in Boston about the Red Sox trading their beloved slugger Kevin Youkilis to Chicago White Sox, Obama's hometown team.. he was booed (June 25, 2012)
- "When I meet with world leaders, what's striking -- whether it's in Europe or here in Asia..." -mistakenly referring to Hawaii as Asia. Honolulu, Nov. 16, 2011

Gaffes from President Trump:
- The time Trump suggested injecting household cleaners into people's lungs to cure them of the coronavirus. Whitehouse, April 23, 2020.
- Trump drew on a weather map with a Sharpie to make it seem like he was right that Hurricane Dorian was going to hit Alabama. Oval Office, Sep 4, 2019
- Trump asking members of the National Security Council if they could nuke hurricanes rather than letting them hit the U.S. Whitehouse, Aug 25, 2019
- Trump continues claiming voter fraud and electoral corruption, even as courts around the country have rejected a vast majority of his legal team's efforts to halt the certification of election results. December, 2020
- Trump calms the nation on the Covid-19 pandemic:

Maybe the difference is in the last 11 months. 330,000 deaths, 110,000 people hospitalized every day from Covid-19, a nation in economic crisis and some people calling for succession from the Union.
