Eight Cats — 72 Lives — Saved From Burning Home

Miami-Dade firefighters saved eight cats from a burning home Sunday night.

MIAMI, FL — Firefighters rescued eight cats — or 72 cat lives if you believe in the ancient proverb that says cats are born with nine each — from a burning home in southwest Miami-Dade. The home is located at SW 132 Ave and SW 102 St. The fire broke out around 7:15 p.m. Sunday night.

"When firefighters arrived they found the house on fire," explained a spokesperson for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. "The homeowner informed the firefighters there were several cats still inside."

While one unit battled the blaze, several other firefighters searched the burning home for the fortunate felines.
