Friends Raise $15K For Family of Slain AAA Technician
Magdiel Hernandez was killed on July 11 over nothing more than poor response time for a dead battery.

KENDALL, FL — Friends and family of Slain AAA service technician Magdiel Hernandez have raised more than $15,000 to help pay for his family's funeral expenses. Sixty-three-old Jesus Esquivel is accused of shooting the 38-year-0ld service technician multiple times on July 11 over nothing more than poor response time for a dead battery. Esquivel has been charged with second-degree murder.
"Like any normal day he picked up a call ready to work and attend to clients' needs, when suddenly we received news that a tragedy had occurred," Magdiel's friend, Robert Cabrera, stated on a GoFundMe page for Hernandez. Cabrera said he considered Magdiel a brother, whom he met on a missionary trip "where he passionately served with all his heart"
After the trip, Cabrera said that he gained a best friend.
"What the news won't tell you is that Magdiel touched the lives of everyone he encountered. He created a family outside of his biological family," according to the GoFundMe page. "He was a person who loved God with all his heart. And his passion was just to serve God and the people anywhere he could. He loved the unlovable, he believed in those who no one would even give a chance to.
"He was truly an angel on earth sent to bless everyone around him. Magdiel was a true example of love even in the absence of it," the GoFundMe page said. "No one deserves to be taken away at such a young age with so much life to live."
Cabrera said the funds will be raised to cover all the expenses incurred by the Hernandez family, including flights, medical bills and funeral arrangements. The family held a celebration of Hernandez' life over the weekend.
"In this time of need we want them to focus on being comforted and strengthening their faith, not on how to pay for bills," the GoFundMe page added. "All the proceeds of this fundraiser will be given to Magdiel's father, Isaias Hernandez, who is responsible for paying all these expenses that the family has been incurring. "
