Gulliver Preparatory School in Pinecrest Evacuated

Authorities conducted a sweep of the Gulliver Preparatory School.

PINECREST — Students were evacuated at Gulliver Preparatory School on Thursday following an undisclosed threat to the Pinecrest campus.

The threat was lifted shortly after 3 p.m.

"The authorities have completed a thorough sweep of the of the prep campus and have given us the all-clear. It is now safe for us to return to campus," school officials said in a tweet.

The incident began shortly after 11 a.m. and caused the evacuation of all students, faculty and staff.

School officials later said that all students had been transported to the Miller Drive Campus at 8000 SW 56 Street in Miami, where they were to be released. Students were also to be released early from the Miller Drive Campus.

"Students are welcome to retrieve their belongings and vehicles from campus this evening, and can do so until 9 p.m.," officials said. "Belongings left on the field can be collected in the gym. Students who left belongings in a classroom should return to the last classroom they were in prior to leaving."

Officials added that students could also leave their belongings and vehicles overnight and pick them up upon their return to school in the morning.

"Normal campus operations will resume as scheduled tomorrow, Friday Feb. 3," the statement said.

The preparatory school is located at 6575 North Kendall Drive in Pinecrest. Gulliver Schools is a co-educational, private college preparatory day school.
