Motorist Escapes Burning Car
A motorist narrowly escaped injury Thursday when a car caught fire on the ramp to SR 826 and NW 74th St.

MIAMI, FL — A motorist narrowly escaped injury Thursday when a car caught fire on the ramp to SR 826 and NW 74th St. The fire broke out shortly after 3 p.m. just before the start of the afternoon rush hour.
"The driver was able to get out of the car and was not injured," explained a spokesperson for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. "The firefighters worked to quickly extinguish the fire and prevent further damage."

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
"MDFR advises motorists if you smell something burning or see smoke coming from your vehicle, signal and pull safely to the side of the road," the spokesperson added. "Shut off the vehicle's engine, get yourself and all passengers out of the car, move to a safe place as far away from the car as possible and call 9-1-1."
