Winter Recess 2017: School Vacation Dates In Miami-Dade

PINECREST, FL — No one looks forward to winter recess more than children, while their weary parents sometimes look forward to packing up all of the holiday decorations and sending their kids back to school. Here are the important dates that should make everyone happy in your home around the Miami area. No judgement here.

Miami-Dade public schools, and region and district offices will be closed for Winter Recess from Monday, Dec. 25, to Friday, January 5. Students and employees, with the exception of Miami-Dade Schools Police, will be on recess for two weeks.

Schools will reopen on Monday, Jan. 8.

Miami-Dade parochial schools will closed for winter recess starting on Monday Dec. 25 to Friday Jan. 5. Schools will reopen on Monday, Jan. 8.

Miami Dade College

Miami Dade College will be closed for winter recess from Dec. 24 to Jan. 3. The college will be open Jan. 4, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Jan. 5 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Classes begin Jan. 9

Florida International Univeristy

Winter recess started on Dec. 18 for most students, who are due back on Jan. 8.

Some students may have signed up for a mini-term during the break. For those students, the shortened winter recess runs from Dec. 22 to Dec. 26. They will also be off on Jan. 1.

University of Miami

The last day of classes before winter recess is Wednesday, Dec. 20. The Spring 2018 semester begins Tuesday, Jan. 16.
