Archibald Beach Park to Get Additional Renovations

The Madeira Beach City Commission will discuss the item at Tuesday's commission meeting.

Madeira Beach's Archibald Memorial Beach Park could soon be getting a facelift as the city commission issues request for bids to renovate the park. 

Commissioners will discuss the issue Tuesday evening. 

According to city documents, "The purpose of this request for bids (RFB) is for the city of Madeira Beach to receive responses from qualified firms capable of assisting the city in making modifications to Archibald Memorial Beach Park."

Proposals from contractors are due by June 7. By June 14, the evaluation committee will give a recommendation for the winning proposal.

  • Renovating Snack Shack kitchen 
  • Installing new deck, railings, crosswalk pavers 
  • Renovating the exterior and interior of the existing bathroom 
  • Installing stormwater drainage to parking lot 
  • Adding "extensive" new landscaping, installing accent lighting around the building and palm trees 
  • Creating new entry/exit archway
  • Installing underground conduit in utility easement

An April 12 inspection of the Snack Shack by Madeira Beach building official Bob Lane concluded in the structure was in good shape except for a broken window in the attic and that other windows were not hurricane impact resistant. An additional concern for Lane was the lack of a handicap stall in both the men's and women's restrooms.

Tuesday night's meeting begins at 5 p.m. at City Hall.
