Celebrate National Ice Cream Month on the Beaches

What's your favorite flavor of ice cream? Make sure you grab a scoop or two at these local places during National Ice Cream Month!

It's hot, hot, hot out there, and what better way to cool off than to grab a frozen treat. Don't worry, the beaches in Pinellas County have plenty of ice cream, snow cones, shakes and more to complete your day at the beach.

With National Ice Cream Month coming to an end, we want to know, what's your favorite flavor and favorite local beach business to get it from?

Pinky's Ice Cream & Candy Shop, at 1401 Gulf Blvd. in Indian Rocks Beach, is one of only three spots on the beaches that sells Candy Kitchen's homemade ice cream.

Birthday Cake is their most popular seller with one scoop cones priced at $2.95 and two scoops adding up to $3.95. If you stop by Pinky's be sure to take advantage of their daily deal. There are deals Monday through Friday, such as 40-cent waffle cone Wednesdays and free candy Fridays.

The owner, Wendy Hatzell, loves flamingos — hence the name Pinky's — and also sells Flamingo souvenirs, antique items and even "Flamingo Poop!" Hatzell makes the fruity, pink jellybeans called "Flamingo Poop." At $1 a bag, it's not a bad souvenir for your visit at Indian Rocks Beach.

Pinky's Ice Cream & Candy Shop is one of many ice cream shops listed in our business directory on Pinellas Beaches Patch.

Find ice cream, gelato and snow cones near you under our "Ice Cream & Candy Stores" section.

Enjoy!
