Lane Closures on Gulf Boulevard Continue until November

Street light installation is causing the shifting lane closures.

TREASURE ISLAND, FL – A project that will bring a brighter Gulf Boulevard to Treasure Island will also bring intermittent lane closures for the foreseeable future.

Duke Energy began work on installing underground conduits for installing new street lights and poles along Gulf Boulevard from 105th Avenue to 127th Avenue on April 4. Until the project is finished, one outside lane of Gulf Boulevard will be closed on this schedule:

  • The northbound (east side) of Gulf Boulevard street light installation is ongoing and is scheduled to complete in mid- to late-June.
  • The southbound (west side) of Gulf Boulevard street light installation will being approximately two weeks after the northbound side is completed. The scheduled completion date is expected to be around the middle or end of October.

During the installation, sections of the sidewalk will be closed at each segment (approximately one to two blocks). Each night, the sidewalk will be temporarily made safe for pedestrian use. As soon as a segment is completed, restoration will begin.

In addition, the old street lights and poles will not be removed until the installation of all new street lights and poles have been completed.
