Man Shoots At SWAT Team During 6-Hour Standoff: Pinellas Sheriff

A 42-year-old Seminole man has been taken into custody after being accused of threatening a family member and then shooting at a SWAT Team.

SEMINOLE, FL — A 42-year-old Seminole man has been taken into custody after being accused of threatening a family member and then shooting at SWAT Team members during a six-hour standoff.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, on Wednesday deputies responded to a home at 10954 Starkey Road in Seminole for a domestic disturbance. Deputies said Joshua Wieder threatened a family member and then barricaded himself inside the home.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office SWAT team was called to assist and when members tried to make contact with Wieder, they said he fired shots toward deputies who were inside an armored vehicle outside the home.

Members of the sheriff's Negotiator Response Team eventually made contact with Wieder and convinced him to surrender peacefully.
