Sheriff Seeks Driver Who Struck 5 Family Members, Killing 1

Investigators say the red Juke may be in Gulfport or St. Petersburg.

ST. PETE BEACH, FL — Pinellas County sheriff's deputies are seeking the public's help to find a hit-and-run driver who struck a family of five who were crossing Gulf Boulevard, killing one.

On Thursday, May 13, at about 8:45 p.m., five family members were struck in a crosswalk in the 4700 block of Gulf Boulevard in St. Pete Beach.

They were on the east side of the road and began walking to the west side when a red Nissan Juke left the public beach parking lot and turned north on Gulf Boulevard. The Juke struck all five family members and fled the scene north on Gulf Boulevard.

One family member, 70-year-old Hiep Huynh, was taken to the hospital where he died. Two family members, 77-year-old Thuong Phan and 76-year-old Hai Pho, received minor injuries. Two others, 51-year-old Anh Martin and 67-year-old Tuy Vinh Huynh, were treated at the scene.

According to investigators, the Juke may be in Gulfport or St. Petersburg and may have front-end damage. The vehicle is a newer-model red Nissan Juke with alloy rims.
