Vina Del Mar Bridge Deck Work Complete

VINA DEL MAR BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION

The bridge deck work on the Vina Del Mar Bridge is complete. Work on the project began in mid-July. Piling work underneath the bridge using a barge will start in late August or early September. There will be minimal bridge closures during this portion of the project, according to a St. Pete Beach news release.

SINKHOLE SWALLOWS FLA. VILLA

People across the nation were talking Monday about a sinkhole that swallowed a section of a Clermont resort villa. About 20 people were staying in the villa, located about 10 miles west of Disney World. Talk about a bad vacation!

That was just the latest case of a sinkhole opening up in Florida. In March, a sinkhole opened up beneath a Seffner home, swallowing a man as he slept in his bed, Brandon Patch reports. His body was never recovered.

ORCHESTRA TICKETS ON SALE

Single tickets for the Florida Orchestra's 2013-14 season concerts are now on sale. Included are all Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater performances. The lineup includes Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 featuring the Master Chorale of Tampa Bay; aerial artists, jugglers, acrobats, strongmen and more offering dazzling feats at Cirque de la Symphony; a 40th anniversary salute to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon;, and more.

BAYWAY BRIDGE CLOSURES

Tuesday's planned closure of the Eastbound lanes of the Bayway Bridge has been moved to Aug. 14. Closures for Aug. 15 and 16 are still scheduled. Closures will last from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Cars will be detoured to the Corey Causeway.
