PLANT CITY, FL — The intersection of Paul Buchman Highway (State Road 39A) and Sam Allen Road (County Road 580) reopened Friday after being closed for four months.

The intersection was closed in mid-September for various construction activities, including replacement of the CSX railroad tracks, utility relocations, and roadway construction associated with the Sam Allen Road widening project.

While the intersection has been reopened, motorists should be alert to workers and traffic shifts through the area as construction continues to rebuild and widen Sam Allen Road between Alexander Street and Park Road.

The intersection is not in its final configuration and some lanes will be closed until additional work is completed to the east and west. Final paving through the intersection will take place later in the project.

The Florida Department of Transportation is widening the 2-mile portion of Sam Allen Road from Paul Buchman Highway to east of Park Road from two to a four-lane divided roadway with a raised median, curb and gutter, sidewalks, bicycle lanes, underground drainage pipes and off-site ponds.
