No Arrests Made In Fatal Hit-And-Run Of 5-Year-Old
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has ruled out any involvement of the car that was captured on surveillance video.

PLANT CITY, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has ruled out any involvement of the car that was captured on surveillance video at the time of a hit-and-run crash that killed a 5-year-old child.
At 9:23 p.m. on March 1, deputies were called to Rogers Road after a 5-year-old child and his mother were hit by a car. When deputies arrived, they began CPR until Hillsborough County Fire Rescue crews arrived and took over life-saving efforts. The child was flown by Bay Flight helicopter to Tampa General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Deputies say the mother and child were walking on Rogers Road when a car hit them both. The driver never stopped or attempted to render aid.

The mother was also injured. She is expected to survive.
No arrests have been made as the sheriff's office continues its investigation.

"I am very proud of the hardworking patrol deputies who worked diligently throughout the night to quickly locate this vehicle of interest," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "This was a very difficult investigation for everyone involved. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the young victim, especially the child's mother who is recovering from her own injuries sustained in this crash. Our investigation will continue until we can provide the family with answers."
