Plant City CVS Pharmacy To Begin Vaccinating Eligible Seniors

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said CVS will begin offering coronavirus vaccinations at 81 pharmacies including one in Plant City.

TAMPA BAY, FL — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that CVS Health will begin offering coronavirus vaccinations at 81 select CVS pharmacies in 13 counties across Florida, including one in Plant City.

“I’m pleased to join CVS Health to announce 81 additional COVID-19 vaccination sites across our state," DeSantis said. “These sites at select CVS Health locations will build on the progress we’ve made at existing retail sites and significantly increase access to the vaccine for our seniors.”

The CVS pharmacies will receive about 62,000 doses a week through the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program.

In addition to the CVS pharmacy in Plant City, CVS in Lakeland and Haines City will provide vaccines. The majority of CVS pharmacies providing vaccines, 67 in all, are in Miami-Dade County.

“One of our greatest strengths as a company is our presence in communities across the country, which makes us an ideal partner for administering vaccines in a safe, convenient, and inclusive manner,” said Ahmed Velez, Region Director, CVS Health. “We look forward to continuing to work with the state to defeat the virus and deliver on our shared commitment to increase access to the vaccine for underserved communities, in particular Florida’s Black and Hispanic populations.”

Appointments for vaccinations at the select CVS Health locations will become available for booking later this week as stores receive shipments of vaccine. Patients must register in advance at CVS.com or through the CVS Pharmacy app. Those without online access can contact CVS customer service at 800-746-7287. Walk-in vaccinations without an appointment will not be provided.

As more supply becomes available, CVS Health will expand vaccine access to more Florida pharmacies.
