Comments or questions must be summited by June 29.
The City of Plant City is proposing the Water Treatment Plant SCADA/I&C Improvements Project at the four main Water Treatment Plants 1 – 4, and their associated ground storage wells, that provide up to X MGD of drinking water to the area. The following are the main goals of this project:
- Improve the existing Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) System of the facilities to prevent loss of critical functionality, and help make drinking water infrastructure more resilient to the impacts of climate change, and be capable to prevent, respond and recover from natural disasters.
- Improve aging instrumentation and controls features to meet current industry standards, permits, and relevant regulations. This is to ensure that the water treatment processes at the facilities are reliable and can enhance the overall performance of the water treatment facilities.
- Improve security features and remote operability of the facilities, especially in inclement weather conditions, to provide uninterrupted supply of water for sanitation, safety related activities like fire-suppression, and industrial production purposes, in addition to good quality drinking water.
The estimated construction cost for this project is $500,000 and is provided through grant funding by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), with an intent to address mitigation needs and ensure the State of Florida is more resilient to future natural disasters.
