PGA Players Championship 2018: How To Watch, Odds, Tee Times

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL — The Players Championship, golf's unofficial fifth major and arguably the biggest event the between the Masters and U.S. Open, is underway and features some high profile groupings this year.

Each of the top 50 golfers in the world are playing at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The prize: $10.5 million — the second highest purse in the sport. The winner will receive $1.89 million and six hundred FedExCup points.

Si Woo Kim, of South Korea, won the championship last year to become the youngest winner of the event in history.

But this year, Jason Day and Justin Thomas are +1400 co-favorites to win the event followed by Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy, each at +1600. Dustin Johnson and Rickie Fowler were the next favorites, each at +1800). The resurgent Tiger Woods at +2800 also cracked the top 10.

As CBS Sports noted, the PGA Tour did viewers a favor and grouped high-profile players together this year. Woods, Fowler and Phil Mickelson are playing together in one group. Thomas, Spieth and McIlroy were grouped together and a third heavyweight group features Johnson, Bubba Watson and Brooks Koepka.
