Dear SJCSD families,

As we begin the second semester of the school year, I want to share my appreciation for your patience and support. We are adapting to a world in which we must always be conscious of COVID-19 and its potential impact on our community. We have continued to have positive cases in the community and as a school district, we are maintaining our safety protocols to minimize the impact in schools.
Our school leaders, teachers and staff continue to be present each day for your children. I am very proud of the work that is being done in our schools. There is not a perfect solution to providing opportunities for every situation. However, our teachers and support staff have shown tremendous resolve and creativity to serve children at a high level.

In the fall, we learned a great deal about providing strategies that are sustainable and consistent. So, this semester we have made some adjustments to improve teacher capacity and resources. In some cases, teacher assignments have changed to ensure the best possible classroom setting for brick and mortar and distance learning.
We will be impacted by quarantines and positive cases but will work to provide continuous student learning. I am optimistic that the continued distribution of vaccines and our own self-discipline to maintain safety protocols will help to diminish the threat of the virus.
Lastly, I would like to remind you that this week our Wednesday dismissal will return to our standard one-hour early release schedule. Again, thank you for your support and feedback.
Sincerely,
Tim Forson
Superintendent
