62-Year-Old Man Killed In Safety Harbor Crash

SAFETY HARBOR, FL -- A 62-year-old Safety Harbor man has been killed following crash at 2100 Philippe Parkway in Safety Harbor.

On Wednesday at 6:39 p.m., witnesses saw a 2008 Kia Spectra, driven by Darryl Sailor of State Road 580, Safety Harbor, weaving on the road while headed south on Philippe Parkway, just north of Avon Drive in Safety Harbor.

Investigators say the Kia made a sudden, sharp left turn into the northbound lane of Philippe Parkway and was struck on the passenger side by a 2001 Toyota Avalon driven by 19-year-old Brendan Burke.

The impact forced both cars off the road, where the Kia struck a utility pole.

Sailor was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Burke sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also transported to a local hospital.

Speed and impairment do not appear to be factors in the crash.
