79-Year-Old Safety Harbor Motorcyclist Killed In Crash

SAFETY HARBOR, FL — A 79-year-old Safety Harbor motorcyclist died following an accident Saturday morning on 49th Street South.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 5:37 a.m., Kathryn Lynne Jackson, 57, of Treasure Island was driving a Volkswagen Jetta north on 49th Street North approaching State Road 688.

Lucas M. Scholing was riding a Honda motorcycle south on 49th Street North preparing to turn left onto State Road 688.

Troopers said Jackson failed to stop for a red light and collided with the motorcycle.

Scholing was taken to the hospital where he died of his injuries.

Jackson was cited for failing to stop for a red light.
