City Commission Back In Session Tonight

The commission will convene for its regular bi-monthly meeting as well as another budget workshop following a one-month summer break.

The Safety Harbor City Commission will be back in session tonight following a one-month, mid-summer break.

In addition to the regularly scheduled meeting at 7:30 p.m., the commission will hold another budget workshop prior to that meeting at 6 p.m.

Both the meeting and the budget workshop feature items that should be of interest to Safety Harbor residents.

According to city officials, there will be two primary topics addressed during the workshop following presentations from outside agencies: the 2013-14 millage rate and further general fund reductions.

Documents show that the city is expected to propose a millage rate of approximately 3.7104, an increase of 9.7 percent over the current rate of 3.3808.

The rate increase would bring in nearly $300,000 of additional ad valorem revenue.

Items of interest on the regular meeting agenda include a site plan approval request to build a Walgreens pharmacy in the Oakbrook Plaza on the corner of McMullen Booth and Enterprise Roads, as well as the final vote on the 2014 city election ordinance.

The entire agenda for the commission meeting can be found here.

Both meetings will be held Monday, July 15 at Safety Harbor City Hall, located at 750 Main St.
