Firmenich Proposal OK'd by Pinellas Planning Council

The county board, made up of local officials, approved the Richman Group's plan to develop the Safety Harbor property by a vote of 8-5.

The Pinellas Planning Council voted 8-5 in favor of the Richman Group's proposal to develop apartments at the Firmenich property on Wednesday afternoon.

Despite opposition being voiced by a number of Safety Harbor residents, including Commissioner Nancy Besore, and objections raised by some board members, the council ultimately recommended the project move forward.

Council members noted the fact that the citizens of Safety Harbor were able to get the developer to reduce their initial plans for the property, but they were also quick to praise the Richman Group for being willing to adjust their proposal and for their desire to protect the wetlands on the 34-acre site.
