Gazebo Landscaping Project Underway

The multi-phased project should be completed by fall and will add a number of trees, shrubs and plants to the scenic Main Street spot.

If you've travelled down Main Street in the last few days, you probably noticed a lot of activity going on at the John Wilson Park Gazebo.

And I don't mean the typical kids playing or people taking pictures activities; more like digging, planting, backhoe-ing and watering activities.

The work is part of a multi-phased landscaping project the city is doing at the park in hopes of bringing even more beauty and attention to the crown jewel of the downtown district.

"I've had my eye on this place for two and a half years," Safety Harbor horticultural specialist Alex Fearn said during a break in the work on Wednesday.

"Now I'm finally getting the chance to make it look even better than it already does."

The project includes adding a number of trees, plants, shrubs and flowers in order to bring more natural beauty to the park as well as enclose it a bit to give it more of an intimate feel.

Fearn said he hopes to have the entire project competed by fall. Check out the video above to hear him talk about the revitalization of the Gazebo in his own words.
