Library Chair-ity Fundraiser Enters Final Week
Mayor Joe Ayoub will award the 24 decorative chairs to the winners in a ceremony on Friday night.
The 2013 Chair-ity Fundraiser to benefit the Safety Harbor Public Library Foundation is entering its final week, and according to officials, it’s shaping up to be a very successful event.
People have been flocking to the library for weeks to place their purchased tickets in the bags that correspond to their favorite chairs, which have been decorated and donated to the library by area artists and residents.Â
“You can put your tickets in different bags or, like some people have been doing, load all your tickets in one bag to have a better chance of winning your favorite chair,” librarian Lora Polgar said.

The chairs are all on display in the library foyer, where the tickets are available for purchase. Tickets cost $1.00 each, or six for $5.00. You can also buy tickets online.Â
The winning tickets will be drawn on Friday, April 19 at 6 p.m. in a ceremony hosted by Mayor Joe Ayoub. In addition, prizes will be awarded to the most creative, staff favorite and people’s choice winners.Â

Library Foundation board president Debbie White said the event is part of the library’s 75th anniversary celebration. They are also running a membership drive from April 17 to May 16 for people to become members of the Foundation.
“As the Safety Harbor Public Library Foundation Board, we are becoming more active in our community, encouraging private support for the library to ensure that it will continue to grow and thrive,” White wrote in an email.Â
“Donating to the Foundation is the one investment that serves the people of the community equally.”Â
Tickets for the fundraiser can be purchased at the Safety Harbor Public Library, located at 101 2nd St. N., or online at www.safetyharborlibraryfoundation.org. You do not have to be present to win.
