Local Gallery to Showcase Special Art by Special Hands

SAFETY HARBOR, FL – The Arc Tampa Bay Foundation will present “Special Art by Special Hands” at Syd Entel Galleries on Wednesday, Aug. 17.

This is the eighth year gallery owners Susan Benjamin and Syd Entel have hosted the complimentary exhibit and sale at their 247 Main Street location in downtown Safety Harbor. Proceeds from the art sales will benefit the people with intellectual and developmental disabilities served by The Arc Tampa Bay.

All art displayed at the event will be available for purchase at affordable prices.

The artists featured during “Special Art by Special Hands” showcases the vibrant pieces created by the participants of Harborside Studios, one of the many programs offered by The Arc Tampa Bay.

“We continue to host this complimentary event, as we encourage guests to support our artists by purchasing their artwork,” said Ellen Markham Pope, the Event Chair.

Aside from the artwork, guests will be treated to food by Clear Sky Café, which was donated for the event.

“Guests will have the pleasure of meeting our artists and viewing the results of their creative talents first-hand,” said Madison Orr Hauenstein, the executive director of The Arc Tampa Bay Foundation. “This evening highlights our artists’ abilities, rather than their disabilities.”

Harborside Studios, open Monday through Friday, works with 45 people weekly. In the studio, teachers provide assistance in watercolors, acrylics, ceramics and jewelry making, among other mediums. All art displayed in the adjacent gallery is available for purchase during its operating hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Harborside Studios is located at 175 Fifth Ave. N. in Safety Harbor.
