Safety Harbor, Pinellas Budgets to be Decided This Week

Monday, Safety Harbor commissioners will vote on the 2014 budget.

The Safety Harbor City Commission and the Pinellas County Commission will both approve their budgets and millage rates for 2014 this week. 

Monday night, Safety Harbor will hold its second public hearing on the proposed budget and tentative millage rate. 

The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall. 

Safety Harbor commissioners will be voting on a proposed millage rate of 3.7343. That proposed rate represents an 11.61 percent increase of a millage roll back rate of 3.3457. 

The property tax increase and budget were approved 4-1 during the first budget hearing Sept. 3. 

Tuesday county commissions hold its second budget hearing on the 2014 budget, which would got into affect Oct. 1., at 6 p.m. on the fifth-floor Assembly Room of the Pinellas County Courthouse. 

"The tentative $1,763,147,110 balanced budget continues the board’s tradition of providing high quality services to the public while prudently managing the public’s funds," a news release said.
