The Sandwich on Main Starts Strong
The downtown sandwich shop had a great opening weekend, according to the owners.
So far, so good for Safety Harbor's newest sandwich shop.
According to the Sandwich on Main owners Mercedes Locke Ofalt and her mom, Sally, the opening weekend of their eatery was a huge success.
"We were pretty busy during Third Friday, but we were even busier on Saturday," Locke said as she and Sally attempted to regroup from the weekend on Monday morning.
"We were absolutely slammed for lunch on Saturday," she added. "It was good. Crazy, but good!"
Now that they're open for business - seven days a week - the Lockes plan to get creative with the place.
In addition to the impressive list of gourmet sandwiches, there will be more specials and events going on the retro-cool blackboard at the shop.
"I'll be adding some specials and things like wine tastings to the board soon," Sally the creative and culinary brain behind the operation, said. "I've got some good ideas for this place."
In the meantime the Lockes hope the flow of people coming in to check the place out continues.
In fact, Mercedes Locke said some people have already visited multiple times in just three days.
"Some people came in all three days, and one guy came in twice in one day," she said.
"The reception so far has been terrific. We hope it continues."
