St. Joseph's Hospital-North Honored For Stroke Treatment
The Lutz hospital received the Stroke Registry's Certificate of Achievement.

LUTZ, FL —St. Joseph’s Hospital-North has earned an award from the Florida Stroke Registry for its ability to rapidly determine the severity and possible location of a stroke.
The Lutz hospital received the Stroke Registry’s Certificate of Achievement “for the successful achievement of Most Completeness for NIHSS.” NIHSS is an acronym for the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale and is an assessment tool and quantitative measure used in stroke care.
The award recognizes St. Joseph’s Hospital-North’s effectiveness in treating stroke.

The Stroke Registry also notified St. Joseph’s Hospital-North that it ranked as the best among 121 Florida Stroke Registry hospitals that submitted “Most Completeness” data. The Stroke Registry compared hospitals’ data from 2018 to 2019.

The Florida Stroke Registry is managed by the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine Department of Neurology and compiles data from Florida hospitals and tracks the quality of stroke care statewide.
The registry’s aim is to improve quality of care and health outcomes in stroke through partnerships, research, intervention, and policy advocacy.
