VOLUNTEER FOR SUNCOAST HOSPICE AT ESPIRITU SANTO

This morning at 9:30 a.m. there is a recruitment coffee social for those who are interested in volunteering for the Suncoast Hospice organization. The event is being held at Espiritu Santo Church on Philippe Parkway. Check out our event calendar for more details.

‘SHARKNADO’ ON BIG SCREEN

Heard the buzz about “Sharknado” but haven’t experienced it yet in all its ridiculous glory yet? Or just can’t wait for “Sharknado 2” to hit the SyFy channel next year? You’re in luck: The made-for-TV, so-bad-it’s-good, sci-fi extravaganza is coming to theaters for a one-night-only screening at midnight Friday, Aug. 2.  Catch a nearby screening at  Citrus Park Stadium 20 (7999 Citrus Park Town Center Mall, Tampa), Park Place Stadium 16 (7200 U.S. 19 N, Pinellas Park) and Hollywood Stadium 20 (1993 Main St., Sarasota).

INDIE-FLIX KICKOFF PARTY AT THE LIBRARY

The Safety Harbor Public Library is hosting another cool summer event this week - an Indie-Flix kickoff party. According to their recent blog post, the library is now offering a streaming film festival experience for members. The kickoff party starts at 6:00 p.m on Thursday, August 1st, when award-winning film shorts will be shown and refreshments will be served. Call 724-1525 x4122 for more details.

BRING THE UMBRELLA!

You might get wet today: the National Weather Service forecast is calling for a 50 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms during the day throughout much of the Tampa Bay area and a 20 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms in the evening. Highs are, of course, in the low 90s.
