Photos: Al Capone's Miami Beach Home Available for Rental

The property that overlooks Biscayne Bay is where the legendary mobster died in 1947.

Film producers, history buffs and those who are simply curious now have the opportunity to rent out the Mediterranean-style mansion where legendary mobster Al Capone took his last breath in 1947.

MB America snatched up the 30,000-square-foot estate in 2014 for a cool $8 million, the Bradenton Herald reported. That company, which specializes in high-end real estate design, restoration and rentals, unveiled the mostly restored mansion earlier this week.

Like several other properties in its stable, Capone’s 93 Palm, located in Miami Beach’s exclusive Palm Island, will be offered up for rental. The price tag for renting this particular property isn’t immediately evident as restoration work is anticipated to continue for another month or so, the Herald reported.

Capone moved into 93 Palm in 1928 before he was sent to prison on tax evasion charges in 1931. He returned to the Miami Beach property in 1940, Dr. Paul George, a Miami-Dade College history professor, told the Miami Herald.

Although the famed crime boss of Chicago during the Prohibition era, Capone preferred South Florida, George noted. “Miami reminded him of the sunny shores of Italy,” he told the paper.

Capone, George said, died in a small bedroom on 93 Palm’s second story following a January 1947 stroke brought on by advanced syphilis. He was 48.

The Miami Beach home features seven bedrooms, a large kitchen, a two-story cabana house and a 30-by-60-foot pool. It also has its own private beach with 100 feet of frontage on Biscayne Bay.
