2nd Rally, March Planned For Teen Killed By Undercover Deputy

A second rally is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, for a teen who was killed in an accident involving a sheriff's deputy.

TAMPA, FL -- A second rally and march is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, for a 15-year-old boy who was killed when he was struck by a Hillsborough County Sheriff's undercover deputy.

The rally will take place at Blackburn Plaza, 2407 N. Florida Ave., Tampa. The group will then march to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's District 1 office at 114102 N. 20th St. to urge the sheriff's office to provide information on the circumstances surrounding the crash that killed Josiah Pinner.

The Buchanan Middle School student died Jan. 11 when he was struck by an undercover detective in an unmarked car on North Florida Avenue and East 124th Avenue.

Witnesses say the undercover detective was speeding when he struck the teen. The sheriff's office is still investigating the accident.

March organizers, including the groups Working People Against Police Brutality and the Restorative, are demanding a full investigation into the crash.

A GoFundMe campaign has raised $3,260 to help the family with funeral expenses.
