TAMPA, FL — AdventHealth’s West Florida Division and United Surgical Partners International (USPI) today announced the recent acquisition of Tampa Outpatient Surgical Center through a newly established joint venture.

As a result of the acquisition, which was completed in January, the center is now owned and operated by AdventHealth Surgery Center Wellswood, LLC (“Wellswood”).

“As we expand the services we offer, it’s critical for us to go beyond the hospital walls and reach into our communities to bring more convenient access to the kind of high-quality health care people need most,” said Mike Schultz, President and Chief Executive Officer of AdventHealth West Florida Division. “We want to be a partner to our communities and fill the gaps in health care so those in the communities can live a long, healthy life.”

” We are pleased to begin our partnership with AdventHealth in the Tampa community and work collaboratively to offer patients another option for top-quality surgical care,” said Collin LeMaistre, Market President for USPI’s operations in Florida and Georgia. “The physicians and staff at Wellswood are committed to ensuring patients are treated like family in a comfortable and compassionate setting.”

AdventHealth’s West Florida Division has expanded its outpatient services in the Tampa Bay region over the last two years, announcing mobile mammography, outpatient imaging, home health, and care pavilions as new health care services.

“All of these pieces fit together so that we can make it easy for people to find high quality care, and not put off the care they need,” said John Johannessen, Senior Executive Officer, Non-Acute Care Services, AdventHealth West Florida Division. “It also makes it easy for people to navigate care when they have continuity between services and remain in the AdventHealth network.”

Additionally, AdventHealth West Florida Division operates eight urgent care locations, 15 Walgreens Express Care centers, and has over 200 primary care and specialty physicians with locations throughout the Tampa Bay, Sebring and Ocala area as part of its full network of health care services. The health care system is also expanding those physician services, acquiring a physician specialty group in Bloomingdale in 2019 to expand access to primary and specialty providers in the eastern Hillsborough County community, and purchasing a women’s health group in 2020 in order to bring more obstetric and gynecological care to the AdventHealth network of care.
