Lowry Park Zoo Welcomes Spring Chicks
The chicks - an African penguin and a Demoiselle crane - recently hatched.
The chicks have finally hatched.
Lowry Park Zoo recently welcomed an African penguin and a Demoiselle crane to the family.
The African penguin hatched on May 8, and is the third successful hatching for parents Thumbelina and Flannigan, according to a news release from zoo officials. There are 17 species of penguins in the world, with some living in warm climates, the release said.

Seven days later, a Demoiselle crane hatched, and is being raised by female sandhill cranes. The species sometimes travels large distances, and are now a rare sighting at zoos.
