Reopen the Angus Goss Memorial Pool on Central Avenue

Please sign our Petition to save this community pool

DEAR SEMINOLE HEIGHTS RESIDENTS...

Please help us to get the City of Tampa Parks & Recreation to restore the ANGUS GOSS MEMORIAL POOL that is one block away from Hillsborough HS next to the Seminole Heights library. From the comments we have been reading on our petition, it seems many of our residents are alumni of HHS or have stories of having swim lessons at this pool, or they had to swim for physical education or they practiced here when they were on the HHS swim team. It's nice to know that memories have been made here. We know some of our younger generation may not even realize that there is a pool just a block away from HHS since it has been closed since 2009. There is a committee in Seminole Heights trying to get the pool resurrected so that the community can use it again and also for the students and the HHS swim team to use for practice so they don't have to carpool far away to another pool. We would appreciate your support of signing this simple e-petition at https://bit.ly/2J0KjXT.

WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

The pool used to be like this:

Now it looks like this covered with grass:

It's quite sad to see something that was once a beneficial source for the Seminole Heights community left abandoned and a disgrace to our fallen hero, Angus Goss.

Fallen Hero
US Marine, Angus R. Goss
Historical Plaque 1962

The pool was built in 1962 to honor Marine Gunner, Angus R. Goss who fought in WWII and lost his life on July 20, 1943. He was a Seminole Heights resident and also a c/o 1929 Terrier.
Please take a moment and sign the petition for its historical significance and for our students and community! You can share your memories/comments on the petition like many others have done.
