Sheriff Seeks Man Who Broke Into University Mall Taco Stand

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's assistance to locate a man who broke into University Square Mall.

TAMPA, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public’s assistance to locate a man who broke into University Square Mall last month and stole money from a taco restaurant in the food court.

Just before 4 a.m. on Nov. 17, a man entered University Square Mall at 2200 E. Fowler Ave. in through an unlocked service door. Once inside the mall, the man walked directly to the food court and jumped the counter at the Tacos Gone Mobile restaurant. He forced his way into the office and stole money, a Samsung tablet and cell phone.

The man was last seen walking through the first floor of the parking garage toward North 22nd Street.

He is black with a short afro, about 5 feet 11 inches tall and 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a purple hoodie, red jeans, black and white hi-top sneakers and a black beanie.

Anyone who recognizes him is asked to contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200 or, to be eligible for a cash reward, Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477).
