SEMINOLE HEIGHTS, FL — A 34-year-old woman is recovering after being struck by a train Monday.

According to Tampa Police, Anna C. Jenkins of Canopy Tree Drive was wearing headphones and walking on the south side of the railroad tracks at the railroad crossing at Sligh Avenue near Rowlett Park Drive at 9:09 p.m. July 11 when she was truck by a portion of the train's engine.

The train conductor told police that he hit the brakes and sounded the horn but Jenkins didn't see or hear the train. He estimated the train was traveling 17 mph when it struck Jenkins.

When officers arrived, Jenkins was conscious and her only injury appeared to be a cut on her forehead. She was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa to be evaluated.
