TPD Crime Analysis Unit: Burglary Pattern Identified

Lisa Timmer, neighborhood affairs liaison for Tampa Police Department District 2, said the Crime Analysis Unit has identified a residential burglary pattern.

On April 12, four burglaries occurred with a similar vehicle involved in and around the Lowry Park North area.

Here's a rundown of the burglaries involving the same vehicle:

Thursday, April 12

• Between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., someone smashed a rear window to a residence in the 8500 block of North Rome Avenue and took a laptop. "The suspect was described as a black male, in his early-mid 20s, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, about 160-170 pounds, and with short black hair. The culprit wore a white T-shirt and baggy shorts. The suspect drove an early-to-mid-2000s four-door dark green Sedan, possibly a Nissan, with black rims," a Tampa Police District 2 release said.
  

• A burglary was reported in the 2100 block of West Skagway Avenue. Between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., a black male suspect entered the residence through an unlocked rear window. Once inside, the culprit ransacked the bedroom and took an HP laptop. The burglar and vehicle were observed by a neighbor and they were described as the ones in the North Rome Avenue's burglary: "the suspect was described as a black male, in his early-mid 20s, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, 160-170 pounds, and with short black hair. The culprit wore a white T-shirt and baggy shorts. The suspect drove an early-to-mid-2000s four-door dark green Sedan, possibly a Nissan, with black rims," the release said.

• Between 8:28 a.m. and 8:41 a.m., someone smashed a rear window to a residence in the 8900 block of North Oregon Avenue. Once inside, the culprit rummaged throughout the house, but did not take any property. The suspect fled in a four-door, older model, dark green Nissan. "The vehicle is readily identifiable as the same suspect vehicle shown in the crime pattern report released by Crime Analyst," the release said.

• A burglary was reported in the 2100 block of West Marquette Avenue. Between 6:55 a.m. and 6:45 p.m., someone gained entry to the residence by smashing a rear window and stole jewelry and a 32” television.

Police say that it is also possible that the following crime is related to the ones above:

• On March 20, between 8:20 a.m. and 8:53 a.m., someone kicked in the rear door to a residence in the 1500 block of West Clinton Street. Once inside, the culprit ransacked the house, but fled without taking any property. The suspect was described as a black male, thin build, dark brown complexion, and balding hair. The suspect wore a blue shirt, blue shorts and white and blue tennis shoes. The culprit drove a four-door black vehicle.
