Woman Robbed near Publix Supermarket in Old Seminole Heights

A woman was robbed in the 900 block of East Paris Street early Friday, May 4.

A woman, whose name has not been released, was robbed early Friday, May 4, in the 900 block of East Paris Street, according to Tampa Police District 2.

Around 6.45 a.m., the victim was approached by a white male who threaten her with a piece of glass demanding her purse, said Lisa Timmer, Neighborhood Affairs Liaison for Tampa Police District 2.

The suspect fled the scene on foot with the victim’s purse and the victim was not injured.

Timmer said that several police officers and helicopters were dispatched because several people living in the neighborhood called 911 to report the robbery.

Timmer said that police recovered the victim’s purse and the suspect’s flip flops nearby.

“There is a good chance we will be able to make a match because of the DNA on the shoes the suspect left behind,” said Timmer.

The suspect was described as a white male, between the ages of 18-25, 5-foot-9, thin built, no facial hair, and last seen wearing a black hoodie.

The victim reported that the robber spoke as if he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Timmer said.

Police are checking the surveillance video of the at 6001 N. Nebraska Ave.
