$148.6M Bed Tower To Be Unveiled At Haley Veterans Hospital In Tampa

TAMPA, FL ? James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital and Clinics will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new bed tower Saturday, Jan. 21, at 10 a.m., in front of the bed tower's main entrance.
The ribbon-cutting marks the culmination of Tampa VA's construction project that began in 2018. Attendees will include congressional representatives and other dignitaries.
The $148.6 million bed tower is a four-story building that adds 245,000 square feet of new space and another 5,000 square feet of renovated space to the hospital.

It includes 96 medical-surgical single-patient rooms and 40 intensive care unit beds. The bed tower also includes a new cafeteria, outdoor dining area and retail store, as well as assorted support offices.
This is the first major design-build construction project managed by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers for the Veterans Administration under approved Congressional legislation.

Speakers at the ceremony will include Veteran Affairs Executive Director for the Office of Construction and Facilities Management Dr. Michael Brennan, the South Atlantic Division commander for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Brig. Gen. Daniel Hibner, U.S. Reps. Kathy Castor, Gus Bilirakis and Laurel Lee and senior Veterans Administration officials.
