2 Moms Win $1M Each In Florida Lottery Scratch-Off Games

Two Hillsborough County women played Florida Lottery scratch-off games and each of them walked away with a $1 million prize.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — Forget St. Patrick's Day. June is the month o' luck for two Hillsborough County residents who played the Florida Lottery.

Both played scratch-off games and walked away with a $1 million prize.

According to the Florida Lottery, on Wednesday Wanda Brana, 55, of Tampa, claimed a $1 million prize from the $5,000,000 LUCK scratch-off game at Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee. She chose to receive her winnings as a one-time lump-sum payment of $760,000.

Brana said she has big plans for the money.

"I have been renting for years, but now I'm finally able to afford a house for my family and me," she said.

Brana purchased her winning ticket from Rome Food Mart, 1615 W. Sligh Ave. in Tampa. The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning scratch-off ticket.

The $20 game, $5,000,000 LUCK, launched in September 2019 and features more than $329 million in cash prizes, including six top prizes of $5 million. The game's overall odds of winning are 1-in-2.97.

Five days earlier, another Hillsborough County residents walked away with the jackpot.

According to the Florida Lottery, 36-year-old Sheena Nellon won $1 million from THE PRICE IS RIGHT scratch-off game. She, too, chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $770,000.

Nellon purchased her winning ticket from Farm Stores, 125 W. Linebaugh Ave. The convenience store will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

The $5 game launched in April 2018 and features more than $59 million in prizes, including six top prizes of $1 million. The game’s overall odds of winning are 1-in-4.19.
