2017 Sunset Music Festival: What To Know Before You Go

The two-day music festival is expected to bring in more than 50,000 to Raymond James Stadium.

TAMPA, FL – For the sixth straight year, Tampa will rock the start of the summer holiday season with two days of world-famous talent.

The 2017 Sunset Music Festival will feature more than 45 Electronic Dance Music artists on three different stages around Raymond James Stadium. More than 50,000 people attended last year’s Sunset Music Festival with more than half traveling from outside the Tampa Bay area.

Here’s what area residents need to know before you go to the 2017 Sunset Music Festival:

Dates and Times

The 2017 Sunset Music Festival is scheduled to take place Saturday, May 27 and Sunday, May 28 from 3 p.m. to midnight both days.

Location

The North Lot of Raymond James Stadium, 4201 N. Dale Mabry Highway, will host the 2017 Sunset Music Festival.

Parking

Parking lots will open at 2 p.m. each day of the festival and will close by 1:30 a.m. each night. General parking per vehicle is $25, cash only. No tailgating or overnight parking will be permitted.

Ride sharing services such as Uber and Lyft will be allowed to use a pre-event drop-off area on southbound Himes Avenue in the right turn lane at the entrance to Lot 4 or Lot B. The post-even pickup area is located on southbound Himes Avenue.

Tickets

General admission tickets, which include entry into the festival, are $109.95 with a $13.04 fee per day. A two-day general admission ticket is $189.95 with a $17.44 fee. General admission ticketholders must be 18 years old with a valid ID to enter.

Two-day VIP tickets are $299.95 with a $23.49 fee. VIP ticketholder must be 18 years old with a valid ID to enter the festival, but must be at least 21 years old with a valid ID to enter the private bar and 21+ levels of the viewing decks.

VIP amenities include express entrance, elevated viewing levels, private cash bars, air-conditioned restroom facilities, an onsite VIP management team and a collectable VIP laminate badge and lanyard.

Wristbands

Ticketholders must present their ticket PDF (printed or on a mobile device) and valid ID to receive the wristband that will allow admission into the 2017 Sunset Music Festival. Wristbands can be picked up at the SMF box office, located at the main festival gate, or at the off-site pickup at the Hampton Inn, 4817 W. Laurel St.

The box office hours are 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. on May 27 and 28.

The off-site check-in hours are:

  • Friday, May 26: until 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 27: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 28: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Lineup Schedule

The three different stages at the 2017 Sunset Music Festival will provide enclaves of sub-genres of today’s EDM scene. The event’s headline acts include Major Lazer, RL Grime, Above & Beyond and Zeds Dead.

Safety Precautions

Hydration: Event organizers are advising 2017 Sunset Music Festival attendees to be prepared to stay hydrated with the mix of dancing and Florida heat expected to happen this weekend. Free water will be available at several stations throughout the venue. Attendees may bring empty reusable water containers into the venue, but are subject to search upon entry. Containers will also be available for purchase at the event. The First Aid tents will also provide sports drinks free of charge.

First Aid: First Aid Stations will be located near each stage at the festival. The Sunset Squad, a mix of nurses, paramedics and med students, will roam the festival grounds to aid attendees in need of assistance.
