4 People In Custody After Tampa Police Were Fired Upon
Tampa police chased a car after being called to gunshots, and were then shot at by a person in the suspects' car. No injuries were reported.

TAMPA, FL ? Four people are in custody after Tampa police were fired upon by a person in a car they were pursuing.
Just before midnight Tuesday, Tampa police officers responded to a report of several shots fired in the area of North 27th Street and East 19th Avenue.
Two plainclothes officers driving an unmarked patrol vehicle saw a car fleeing from the area at a high speed and began to follow it. They saw the car pull over and one of the passengers place something in the trunk.

As the officers got closer, one of the passengers fired several gunshots at the unmarked patrol vehicle.
Police pursued the car to the rear exit ramp of the Twiggs Street parking garage, 901 E. Twiggs St., where four people got out of the car and began to run away.

They were caught by officers who found a gun and shell casings at both the garage and the original shooting scene.
The incident is still under investigation, but there are no threats to the public and no officers were injured.
