Whistleblower Status Granted To COVID-19 Data Scientist: Report
The data scientist who built Florida's COVID-19 dashboard and was fired by Gov. Ron DeSantis has been granted whistleblower status by the state. In early May 2020, Rebekah Jones said she was fired for not manipulating coronavirus data to support the state's reopening following the pandemic shutdown.
A bill Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law Tuesday morning at a private Christian school prohibits female transgender athletes from playing on girls' teams. While he touted the law as ensuring fairness in athletics, critics said it was a slap in the face to transgender athletes on the first day of LGBTQ Pride Month.
