84-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck While Running Across I-275

TAMPA, FL — An 84-year-old Tampa woman was struck and killed by an SUV Saturday night while running across Interstate 275.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was running east across the interstate just south of Fowler Avenue at 8:35 p.m. when she was struck by an SUV driven by a 43-year-old New York City woman. She died at the scene.

The SUV driver and her passengers, ages 19, 18 and 12, were not injured.
