Avoid 2017 Gasparilla Festival Traffic With Florida 511
The state-run service offers several ways to keep tabs on traffic during the pirate invasion.

TAMPA, FL – While Tampa is being invaded by pirates and parades this month, the Tampa Bay area will also be invaded by traffic congestion and road blocks.
Whether you’re looking for the best route to attend the 2017 Gasparilla Pirate Festival – or looking to completely avoid it – the Florida Department of Transportation will have its Florida 511 Traveler Information up and running to help everyone get to where they’re going.
On both Saturday, Jan. 21 for the children’s parade and Saturday, Jan. 28 for the main festival route, motorists can check the FL511.com website for interactive roadway maps showing current driving conditions, crashes, construction, congestion and traffic camera views.

Motorists can download the free Florida 511 mobile app on Google Play or the Apple App Store to receive up-to-date traffic information and door-to-door directions. In addition to the website and the mobile app, motorists can:
- Sign up for a My Florida 511 personalized services account at FL511.com to create custom routes and register for e-mail and text alerts
- Call 511 toll-free from any phone in Florida for updates
- Follow one or more of the 13 statewide, regional or roadway-specific Twitter feeds, including @FL511_TampaBay, @FL_511_I4 and @FL511_I75, and using the hashtag #FL511.
