Bomb Squad, Hazmat Called After Truck Driver Crashes Into Home

TAMPA, FL — The Tampa police bomb squad and hazardous materials team were called in after a pickup truck driver drove into a house Tuesday morning.

Police said the crash occurred around 10:49 a.m. in the 4600 block of West Pearl Avenue near South Trask Street. Police took the truck driver into custody after they said he made statements about having dangerous chemicals inside the home.

A perimeter was established by hazmat and the bomb squad, which remain at the scene.

The police evacuated the area around the home and shut down Pearl Avenue between South Renellie Drive and South Hesperides Street along with South Trask Street between West Paxton Avenue and West Rogers Avenue.
